Our Mission

St. Mary’s Knanaya Catholic Parish of Houston commits to serve the pastoral needs of the Knanaya Catholics in the state of Texas, having domicile in Houston and neighboring cities, in communion with the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago and the Archeparchy of Kottayam, especially by providing liturgical services in the Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara Rites, offering Religious Education and spiritual formation, organizing pious associations, Ministries for all ages, koodara yogams (ward prayer meetings), promoting Knanaya traditions, and developing a spirit of Christian love.

Brief History

The Knanaya Catholic Mission of Houston was founded in 1994 to serve the pastoral needs of the Knanaya community in Houston and neighboring cities. The mission was officially recognized by the St. Thomas Diocese of Chicago in 2003. In 2011, the mission purchased a new church building, which was consecrated by Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath. The mission was elevated to a parish in the same year.

The parish has grown rapidly over the years and now serves around 860 families in Houston, Sugarland, Missouri City, Stafford, and the southeastern part of Texas. The parish is a vibrant community that offers a variety of programs and ministries to its members.

Evening Qurbana: Monday through Friday at 7:00 P.M.
Mass on Saturdays at 9:30 A.M.
